Hit and run case solved in Ganderbal, accused arrested: Police

Police in Ganderbal have solved a hit and run case by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime.

A police spokesman said, “On 26/10/2022 an accident occurred at Derand, wherein a Bike rider namely Manzoor Ahmad Kaloo son of Ghulam Ahmad Kaloo resident of Nesbal Sumbal was hit by an unknown vehicle resulting his on spot death. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled away from spot along with the vehicle.”

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 306/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation was initiated.

The spokesman said that acting swiftly, police party led by SI Fayaz Ahmad I/C PP Nagbal started a hot pursuit of the unknown driver and arrested him after hectic efforts. The accused driver has been identified as Gh Hassan Kandro son of Gh Mohd Kandro resident of Ashai Bagh Nigeen Srinagar. The vehicle bearing registration No. JK01H-4211 has also been seized. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Further investigation of the case is in progress.

“Our efforts should assure community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities”, he said.
