On 16.12.2020, an information was received at Police Station Akhnoor from reliable sources that one pedestrian namely Bal Krishan S/o Gian Chand R/o Bhalwal Brahmana was on his way towards Akhnoor when an unknown vehicle hit the person from behind. Some locals shifted the victim to SDH Akhnoor for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver fled away from spot along with vehicle. On the information, a case FIR No. 239/2020 U/S 279/304 A IPC got registered at P/S Akhnoor.
On this special police teams of P/S Akhnoor were constituted. The team led by SHO P/S Akhnoor Insp. Ravi Singh Parihar after hectic efforts arrested the accused driver of the vehicle namely Mangat Ram S/o Sat pal R/o Koudewalla. On his disclosure, vehicle bearing registration number JK02CB/0164 was also recovered and seized. Further investigation is going on.
