Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested an over ground worker (OGW) affiliated with Hizb ul Mujahideen militant outfit in Ganderbal district.

SSP Ganderbal, in a press briefing, on Friday identified the over ground worker as Nazir Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Khaliq Malik, of Lobar Mohalla Shalbug.

He said that Malik was arrested during a cordon-and-search-operation at his native village.

“Nazir was an over ground worker of Hizb ul Mujahideen and was involved in providing support to the outfit. Huge quantity of incriminating material was recovered from his possession,” he said.

The SSP said that a case, vide FIR number 41/2018 under section 212 Act, stands registered in Police Station Ganderbal. “Investigation of the case is going on. More arrests are expected in coming days,” he said.
