Srinagar, Mar 17: A hotel worker died after being hit by a Fire and Emergency Services vehicle following a firefighting operation in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Officials said the tragic incident occurred after the firefighting operation had concluded at a hotel where a massive blaze had earlier broken out.
While a fire tender from Fire Station Ashmuqam was reversing to turn the vehicle, it accidentally struck a hotel worker present at the site.
The injured worker was immediately shifted for medical treatment, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Manjeet Singh, a resident of Hutmurrah in Anantnag district.
Earlier, a major fire had broken out at a hotel in the Pahalgam area, damaging several structures and prompting the deployment of multiple fire tenders from different fire stations to control the blaze.
Authorities have taken note of the incident, and further details are awaited.
