IGP Kashmir Chairs Annual Crime Review Meeting

Srinagar, Dec 28: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi on Friday chaired the annual crime review meeting at the Police Control Room, Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Range DIGs, District SSPs and other senior officers of the Kashmir Zone.

Officers briefed the IGP on the crime situation and steps taken for crime prevention and investigation. Discussions were held on cases under the UAPA, terror-related and terror-financing cases, NDPS cases, POCSO cases, preventive detention under the PSA, property attachment, pending inquests and the arrest of absconders.

District SSPs presented details of FIR registration, investigation status and case disposal in their respective districts.

The IGP reviewed investigations and directed officers to improve conviction rates through better investigation practices, use of scientific tools and effective follow-up, particularly in NDPS and UAPA cases.

The IGP also directed district heads to conduct training programmes for investigation officers and to hold regular crime review meetings at the district level. He reiterated the police commitment to accountability, transparency and timely disposal of cases.
