Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan on Monday openly called out US president Joe Biden and his administration, accusing them of indulging in a regime change conspiracy to remove a democratically elected PM.

Khan asked the US government whether the ‘conspiracy’ lessened or increased anti-American sentiment of Pakistani citizens.

Khan said, “By indulging in a regime change conspiracy to remove a democratically elected PM of a country of over 220 million people to bring in a puppet PM, do you think you have lessened or increased anti-American sentiment in Pakistan?”

On April 3, Imran Khan claimed that Donald Lu, the top American official dealing with South Asia in the US State Department, was involved in the alleged conspiracy to topple his government. His government then formed a commission led by a retired Army officer to investigate the “foreign conspiracy” behind the no-confidence motion. However, the US rejected the claims of involvement of ‘foreign powers’.

Later, Imran Khan became the first sitting prime minister in the history of Pakistan to be removed from office through a no-confidence motion. Shehbaz Sharif will serve as the new prime minister till the next general elections.

Recently, Imran Khan was criticised for meeting US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar at his residence in Bani Gala in Islamabad, weeks after he alleged US conspiracy. ( Indian Today )
