I know Dr Syed Maqbool both professionally and personally.He has helped me vis a vis angiographies of my patients during my thesis.He is just a call away away whenever I need advice regarding cardiology issues of my patients.
The humbleness,sincerity, professionalism is unmatched.
This unfortunate incident has happened with a senior doctor of immense calibre with international repute,just imagine the plight of a common man.
In a civilized place a mere sight of police by a law abiding citizen is a sigh of relief but it is nothing less than a nightmare here. Law and order has gone for a toss.

One more painful incident faced by our most respected colleague cardiologist Dr Syed Maqbool. ” On 23rd morning(arfa) while I was crossing the Hawal chowk to wards my hospital for my duties (on this day I was the cardiologist on call for SMHS and all associated hospitals) I was stopped by a constable and asked to turn back go through some other way despite showing him my I card/duty roaster and the big plus mark on my car.
I requested him to allow me as i was already getting late due to traffic jam there, in return he started abusing me said what then you are a doctor, after this i came down and asked him to that i want to talk to your officer, he instead hit my belly with his baton and in the mean time the sho came running and dragged me to the police station.
As soon as we entered he snatched my phone and I card and despite my repeated requests to call my HOD and principle as I was on call and had to deal with all emergencies.
To this he replied that let the patients and hospital go to hell, I dnt care, you doctors are thieves indulged only in selling duplicate medicines and taking commissions.You people are good for nothing, this Govt is mad what all is being done is done by police.seeing his arrogance and knowing that patients will suffer and may die, I apologised many a times and asked for calling my HOD and to this he told me that 8f you say anything more I will strip you off your clothes and beat you to hell. I didnot give up and repeatedly asked for my cell phone and then at 4pm I was allowed to make a call to my colleagues for arranging someone to take care of patients with the order that if you tell them you are in Zadibal thana I will strip u naked and put you behind bars.I had to tell my colleague that I am caught up in an emergency at home.
At 6 pm he released me on zamanat when my brother came to Thana, because my family was not able to contact me and somehow they came to know that I have been put in thana.He did not release my vehicle which is still lying in thana ,because of which I had to walk to my hospital and take care of the rest of my emergency calls. This is a life time torture I have ever recieved for performing my duties and that too during covid 19. His arrogance did not deter me from performing my duties and I worked for whole night till 1 pm nect day despite EID and took care of all my sick patients. When whole world is saluting doctors, this is what we are recieving in out state. I am a senior interventional cardiologist who has represented state and country at multiple and national and international forums with multiple awards to my credit and 8f this is the behavior with me what will our juniors face at this time when whole world is dealing with a deadly disease killing thousands daily.
