Kuala Lumpur, Feb 8 (KNC): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reiterated that India’s approach towards terrorism remains resolute and uncompromising, underlining that the country follows a clear policy of “no double standards and no concessions” when it comes to dealing with terror.
Speaking at a joint press interaction with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur, PM Modi said India will continue to deepen cooperation with Malaysia in key areas including counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing and maritime security to tackle emerging security challenges.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and recalled that he could not visit Malaysia last year during the ASEAN Summit. He said he had assured his Malaysian counterpart of an early visit, which has now been fulfilled.
PM Modi noted that his visit to Malaysia marks his first overseas engagement of 2026, reflecting the importance India places on strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation with Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, PM Modi as per KNC said, “Last year, I was unable to visit Malaysia for the ASEAN Summit. But, I had promised my friend, PM Anwar Ibrahim that I would come to Malaysia at the earliest opportunity. And now, my first international visit of 2026 took place in Malaysia. This visit will boost economic and cultural linkages between our nations. My gratitude to PM Anwar Ibrahim, the Government and people of Malaysia for the affection.” (KNC)
