In a remarkable tale of determination and perseverance, Mohd Ashrif Lissery, an officer of the Jammu & Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), has risen from humble beginnings in a remote village to become the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Saddar area of Srinagar, the heart of the city. His journey is a true testament to the power of education, hard work and a commitment to serving the people.
Hailing from the village of Kanthi in Tehsil Mahore/Thuroo, District Reasi his education began from his native village. He completed his 12th class at MIER School (Model Institute of Education and Research) in Jammu in 2006, and his thirst for knowledge led him to GGM Science College Jammu, where he obtained his BSc degree in 2009. Driven by a passion for zoology, he pursued an MSC from Dr BR Ambedkar University in Agra in 2011.
Not content with merely academic achievements, officer is equally devoted to making a positive impact on society. He worked with the NGO Global Peace Organisation before joining education department as a teacher. His journey took a turn when he shifted to Revenue Department and started working as a Patwari while simultaneously preparing for civil services exams with utmost dedication.
His hard work and dedication bore fruit when he qualified the prestigious KAS exam in 2017 with 36th rank in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. This achievement paved the way for him to join the Jammu & Kashmir Police Service, where he further honed his skills and capabilities at SKPA Udhampur.
Following his probation period in District Kishtwar, he was transferred to Shopian district, where he served as the SDPO Imamsahib for an impressive two and half years. His commitment to duty, cooperation with the people and effective handling of anti-drug initiatives and exposing criminals and fraudsters earned him recognition and praise.
In recognition of his exemplary work, officer was assigned the crucial role of SDPO Sadder Srinagar, where he has been serving with utmost dedication for the last seven months. In this position, he has played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the heart of the city. His efforts have resulted in numerous criminals being apprehended and brought to justice, making the streets safer for the citizens of Srinagar.
Mohd Ashrif is being loudly appreciated for his tireless dedication, honesty and sincere services to the general public and he remains always ready to help the public, irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.
Since the day he joined as SDPO Saddar in the district Srinagar, criminals particularly Narcotic smugglers have gone missing in the area. He has been very tough for criminals and he is leaving no stone unturned for the conviction of the criminals.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mohd Ashrif JKPS was instrumental for his timely action in unearthing sex rackets that were operating in Srinagar city including honey trap gang. He is a down to earth officer and believes in public friendly-approach.
Mohd Ashrif JKPS is expert at tackling crimes and criminals. He has become an invaluable asset to the police department. His relentless pursuit of justice and service to the community exemplify the core values of a law enforcement officer.
Awards & Honours
Mohd Ashrif’s remarkable achievements and numerous accolades, including the prestigious two-time PMG (Police Medal for Gallantry) by the President of India, JKPMG (Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry) and the Army Commendation Disc and Certificate by Army lieutenant General (GOC Udhampur), speaks volumes of his unwavering commitment and bravery.
Mohd Ashrif’s outstanding contributions has not only earned two-time CRPF Silver Commendation Discs and appreciation from Director General CRPF Delhi of Government of India but has also garnered recognition from the highest ranks within the law enforcement community. The appreciation letters from DGP J&K and 3 times appreciate letter from IGP CRPF Kashmir, along with two-time appreciation letter from CO CRPF and three times District SSP appreciation letters, further exemplify the profound impact of his commendable work in all dimensions of policing.
His consistent efforts and remarkable achievements have not only upheld the values of our esteemed law enforcement agencies but have also been an inspiration to fellow officers and the community at large. His unwavering dedication, bravery, and commitment to ensuring safety and security have left an indelible mark on the law enforcement fraternity.
