Inter state thieves gang busted, stolen ornaments worth Rs 5 lakhs recovered in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said to have busted inter state thieves gang and stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5 lakhs recovered in Jammu district.

A Police spokesperson said that a complaint was lodged at PS Kanachak regarding theft where 1 golden chain, 2 golden rings and cash Rs. 25000/- were stolen from a house in the area under the jurisdiction of PS Kanachak. 

“On this case FIR No. 192/2023 U/S 454/380/IPC was registered at PS Kanachak and investigation started.”

“On this special police teams of PS Kanachak led by SDPO Domana Vishal Shoor assisted by SHO PS Kanachak Inspr Tribhuvan Khajuria did strenuous efforts and finally rounded a suspected person namely 1) Lovedeep Singh S/o Devinder Singh R/o Khichian Tehsil Mukerian. On questioning he disclosed that he and his associates namely 2) Pankaj S/o Kartar Chand R/o Fattwal Tehsil Mukerian Distt. Hoshiarpur, 3) Jimmy Kumar S/o Joginder Singh R/o Muerian Distt. Hoshiarpur and one local namely 4) Manjeet Singh S/o Swaran Singh R/o Vill. Bopor Teshsil Khour Distt. were involved in the said theft case. On this all the accused were arrested”, he said.

“During questioning they disclosed that they have committed several thefts including one in village Karloop of Tehsil Marh.”

Furthermore, they also disclosed that they have sold the stolen ornaments to a goldsmith namely 5) Prince Khanna S/o Pritam Lal Khanna R/o Raja Bazar Akhnoor Jammu. The said goldsmith was also arrested and the stolen 8 tollas of gold items and 10 tollas of silver items, total worth Rs 5 lakhs were recovered from his possession. Details of the recovered items are as under:golden chain, golden rings in instant case as well as1 golden chain, 1 golden Haar Set, 1 golden pair ear ring, 2 pairs of silver anklet and 1 set of silver kada.

Also in this regard another case FIR No. 70/2023 U/S 457/380/IPC has also been registered at PS Kana Chak Jammu and the said goldsmith has also been arrested.

It is pertinent to mention that accused were professional thieves and worked as an interstate gang in Jammu Kashmir & Punjab etc. Details of the cases registered against them in Punjab are as under:-

4. FIR No. 10/2023 U/S 457/380/IPC PS MUKERIAN PUNJAB

5. FIR No. 110/2023 U/S 457/380/IPC PS MUKERIAN PUNJAB

6. FIR No. 118/2023 U/S 454/380/IPC PS MUKERIAN PUNJAB

7. FIR No. 34/2023 U/S 454/380/IPC PS TALWARA PUNJAB

The overall arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SP Rural Rahul Charak.Further investigation of the case is going on.
