Tehran, March 17: The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that Iran carried out strikes targeting a US military base in Qatar and missile defence infrastructure in Israel.
According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, the IRGC said that the 57th phase of “Operation True Promise 4” was successfully executed against targets located in the heart of what it described as “occupied territories.” The operation reportedly targeted command and communication infrastructure as well as missile defence systems.
In its statement, the IRGC further said that the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar was attacked using Zolfaghar and Qiam missiles, along with drones.
The developments come amid escalating tensions in the region following a joint US–Israel military operation against Iran launched on February 28. In response, Iran has reportedly carried out attacks on Israeli territory and US military bases across West Asia.
Iran also claimed that on the first day of the military operation, its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, and a girls’ school in southern Iran was struck during the attacks. According to Iranian authorities, the death toll from the conflict has so far reached around 1,200.
