Higher Education Department has constituted an Inquiry Officer to conduct a time-bound probe into the allegations leveled against Islamia College of Science and Commerce that it has embezzled UGC grant.

Sources said that University Grants Commission had provided a financial grant, earmarked for various developmental works for Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar.

Sources told news agency that some members from the College informed Higher Education Department that the UGC grant for the college has been misappropriated.

Taking cognizance of the allegations, Principal Secretary to the Government Higher Education Department, Rohit Kansal has appointed Director Planning Higher Education Department Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Ganie as Inquiry Officer to look into these allegations.

An official said that the Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit his report within four weeks’ time. (KNT)
