Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in collaboration with Young Dramatist Society, celebrated International Mother Language Day today, February 21st 2025.

The event was organized under the patronage of Adbee Markaz Kamraz to recognize, preserve, and promote mother tongues as an essential part of cultural awareness and appreciation.
The celebrations, held at the university’s Mehjoor Auditorium, brought together officials, faculty members, and students to promote cultural diversity, inclusivity, and academic excellence, aligning with the University’s goals as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The chief guest, Prof. Abdul Wahid Makdhoomi, Registrar, IUST, graced the occasion with his presence. The event was organized by the Cultural Committee headed by Cultural Co-ordinator Dr Farhana Mehraj Allai under the aegis of the Dean of Students.
The program featured a Theatre Play “ Payi Tav Payas” showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and highlights the importance of Kashmiri as a mother language in preserving cultural identity of UT of J&K.
IUST expressed its sincere appreciation to the artists of Young Dramatist Society. Lastly, the event concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a felicitation.
