Jammu and Kashmir Fiction Writers’ Guild – 338th Session

On Thursday, 16th August, the Jammu and Kashmir Fiction Writers’ Guild held its 338th regular session at its headquarters, Abiguzar, Srinagar, as per tradition. This time, the meeting carried a special focus on the reading of short stories in both Urdu and Kashmiri.

The session was presided over by the Guild’s General Secretary and noted Kashmiri-Hindi writer, Nasir Zamir, along with distinguished writer, poet, critic, and broadcaster Satish Vimal, well-known writer, critic and researcher Ghulam Nabi Haleem, and renowned poet and writer Brij Nath Betab.

The proceedings of the session were conducted by eminent writer Mr. Suhail Salim.

The first presentation came from Dr. Syeda Nighat Nazar, who read her Kashmiri short story titled “Mushkil Hai Milna” (Meeting is Difficult). This was followed by Dr. Mohammad Younis with his Urdu short story “Badnaseeb Maa” (The Unfortunate Mother). Guild Vice President and noted writer Mr. Javed Shabir then presented his Urdu short story titled “Tanhaai Ka Rog” (The Illness of Loneliness). After that, prominent short story writer Mr. Raheem Rahbar presented his Kashmiri short story “Mehru.”

After the story readings, the participants actively shared their thoughts, critical impressions, and posed insightful questions, which were responded to in detail by the session president, Satish Vimal.

Shafi Ahmad, Dr. Shabnam Ashai, Dr. Shoukat Shaga, Khurshid Kazmi, Dr. Javed Kakroo, Sameera, Rehana Shajar, Nazir Jehangir, Shakeel Rehman, Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Arshad Mushtaq Sufi Bashir Bashir, Adil Langu, Ghulam Nabi Shahid, Dr. Shehzada Saleem, Mir Sarwar, Dr. Abdul Majeed Bhaderwahi, Touseef Raza, Faizan Ahmad, MAltaf Abbas Dardistani, Safeer Ahmad, Aaqib Bashir, Mohammad Saqlain, Zamir Ahmad, Nazim Nazir, Fazil Shafi Bhat, and Nasir Mansoor.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks and a note of thanks from Guild’s General Secretary, Nasir Zamir, appreciating the participation of all members , said Zubair Qureshi Media Coordinator (JKFRG) in a statement
