Doda, April 24: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana on Friday presided over one-day convention of party workers of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference at the Town Hall in Doda.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from party leaders and grassroots workers representing different parts of the district, reflecting strong organisational engagement.
The convention was attended by senior party leaders including Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC; Abdul Ghani Teli; Harvadhan; Arun Pal and other senior functionaries.
A large number of district leaders, block presidents and party workers also participated in the convention including Zaffar Ullah Rather, Shadab Suharwardi, Rajinder Singh, Molvi Abdul Majeed, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Noor Mohammad Kaloo, Hasham Din, Mohammad Ayoub Khan, Anita Thakur, Mangatullah Lohar, Naveed Hashmi Karnail Singh Badhral, Pomi Raj, Syed Asim Hashmi, Abrar Ahmed Zargar, Nissar Gattu and all Block Presidents of District Doda including Kushal Singh, Khursheed Ahmed Mir, Mohd Rafi, Dharam Singh, Abdul Manan, Pyare Lal, Istiaq Ahmed Naik, Nazir Ahmed Wani and Hasham Din Sb.
During the interactive session, the Minister engaged extensively with party workers, who brought forth a wide array of pressing public issues and developmental concerns affecting various areas of Chenab Valley.
Participants voiced grievances related to the lack of compensation for flood-affected families, drinking water shortages in Doda town and delays in the regularisation and wage disbursement of daily wage workers.
Concerns were also raised regarding the urgent need for repair and desilting of irrigation kuls, delays in obtaining forest clearances for development works, and the slow pace of implementation of various water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The workers stressed that timely intervention in these areas is crucial for improving the quality of life in the district.
Responding to the issues, Rana assured them that Government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah remains firmly committed to addressing the genuine concerns of the people with urgency and accountability.
He emphasized that the matters highlighted during the convention would be taken up for prompt and time-bound resolution in coordination with the concerned departments.
The Minister further informed that he is currently undertaking an extensive tour of the Chenab Valley and a as part of this outreach initiative, he will be conducting public meetings, interacting directly with citizens, and chairing district-level review meetings to monitor the progress of ongoing development works and ensure effective implementation of key government schemes.
Reiterating Government’s commitment to inclusive and equitable development, Rana stated that all legitimate public issues would be addressed in a phased, transparent and systematic manner.
He underscored the importance of responsive governance and assured that efforts are being made to bridge developmental gaps across the regions and sub-regions of J&K.
The Minister also called upon party workers to play a proactive role in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
He urged them to maintain close contact with the public, understand their concerns, and act as a vital link between the government and the people.
Highlighting the need for unity and social cohesion, Rana stressed the importance of preserving communal harmony and peaceful coexistence.
