A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army and an unidentified militant were killed in a gunfight in Thanamandi area of J&K’s Rajouri district on Thursday, police said.

“On specific information a joint operation was launched today early morning by Police Army and CRPF at Thanamandi, Rajouri. During the operation, one millitant was neutralized and one Army JCO attained Martyrdom. Search operation is going on, ” IGP Jammu tweeted on his official Twitter handle this afternoon.
The identification of the slain militant and the JCO was not immediately known. It was also not clear whether more militants are still trapped at the encounter site.
