Srinagar, Aug 15: J&K Bank today celebrated the 80th Independence Day of the nation with patriotic fervour across its offices throughout the country.

At the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, Chief General Managers, General Managers, DGMs, senior officers and other staff, who assembled to commemorate the historic occasion.

Addressing the gathering, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee reflected upon the significance of Independence Day through three defining words – Respect, Pride and Responsibility.

Elaborating upon them, he said, “Independence Day is an occasion to express our deepest respect for all those who sacrificed their lives and devoted their time to secure the freedom we enjoy today. It is also a moment to take immense pride in the long and determined struggle they waged for the country’s independence, and to recognize our responsibility to carry their legacy forward by taking India to greater heights of development and excellence.”

While also saluting the valiant members of the armed forces who continue to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and security, he also linked this year’s theme, “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047”, with Mission YUVA – the flagship employment and entrepreneurship programme of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

MD & CEO said, “The theme reflects the nation’s conviction that the energy, enterprise, and aspirations of its youth will be central to building a developed India.

In Jammu and Kashmir, this vision is finding meaningful expression through Mission YUVA, which seeks to enable our young people to translate their ideas into sustainable enterprises and emerge as job creators rather than job seekers.”

Highlighting the Bank’s unique responsibility towards its core geographies, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee urged every member of the J&K Bank family to dedicate themselves fully to strengthening the institution. He said that a strong and resilient J&K Bank is “vital to fulfilling our responsibility of supporting the economic development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh with excellence.”

Concluding his address, he urged, “On this Independence Day, let us pledge our complete dedication to strengthening this institution so that we can fulfil, with excellence, our responsibility towards the economic progress of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides our operational geographies in rest of the country and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.”

Meanwhile, Independence Day was celebrated at all the Bank’s controlling offices across the country, with the respective Divisional, Zonal and Cluster Heads hoisting the Tricolour in the presence of staff at their workplaces. The ceremonies highlighted the significance of the occasion and the shared responsibility of contributing to the institution’s growth and the nation’s continued progress.
