In Srinagar, scores of security guards from Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar and raised slogans in favour of their demands while alleging that they are facing injustice at the hands of the Chandigarh based ‘Delta Company’.
The protestors said that they are working as security guards for the last more than 10 years and all of a sudden, they are either being fired or are being told to face salary cuts.

Around 3500 skilled and unskilled security guards working at different banks and ATMs have been protesting against Chandigarh Nation Delta company. The protesting bank guards in Srinagar said that they had been working as bank and ATM guards for the past several years in a security company “Para Green” in the valley.

“This protest is against the Chandigarh based Delta Company that will pay Rs 9,000 to skilled guards and Rs 5,500 to unskilled guards despite being paid by JK Bank in advance,”, one of the protesters told .

Earlier, the Para Green company used to provide Rs 11,250 monthly to Gunman and Rs 7,500 to helper. He said that recently the Chandigarh-based company had taken the contract from the bank and shortly after getting the contract resort to reduction in monthly salaries and asked the security guards to pay Rs 15,000 from their own pockets so that uniform and other things can be arranged for them.

The protesters said that instead of spending a major portion on hapless and poor security guards, this company is intending to exploit them and keep the major chunk of money with itself as JK Bank pays Rs 18,000 per security guard to this private security company.
The protesters urged JK Bank authorities to take up the issue with the ‘Delta Company at an earliest.
