Srinagar, Sep 03: The Jammu and Kashmir BJP has denied any association with the individual seen allegedly molesting a woman during a protest at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar, saying the person is not associated with the party.

In a statement, the party said it had cross-checked the information with multiple sources and clarified that the individual seen in the viral video is not associated with the BJP.

The party said that during large public gatherings, unidentified and unaffiliated individuals may join protests, adding that the presence of such individuals cannot be attributed to or linked with the organisers or the BJP.

It said efforts were underway to identify the individual involved, as well as the portals that allegedly revealed the woman’s face.

The party said that once identified, the matter should be allowed to take its own course in accordance with the law.

The J&K BJP strongly condemned the incident and urged people to refrain from spreading unverified information or falsely attributing an individual’s actions to the BJP.
