The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered a time-bound inquiry into the circulation of viral video allegedly from the Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur, officials said.

An official told that the probe was sanctioned a day after the videos surfaced on social media platforms, triggering widespread concern.

According to Government Order No. 67-JK(HME)of 2026 dated January 28, Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of GMC Jammu, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer.

He has been directed to conduct a detailed enquiry into the circumstances, sequence of events, and administrative as well as security lapses related to the incident(s) that led to the videos being circulated on January 27.

The order, issued by Secretary Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, mandates the inquiry officer to submit a comprehensive report within 15 days.
