Shopian, Jul 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said they had attached a residential house in south Kashmir’s Shopian district that they alleged was acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.

Police said the house, valued at about ₹32.11 lakh, belongs to Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir, a resident of Melhura in Zainapora area. The property was attached in connection with FIR No. 93/2022 registered at Zainapora police station under provisions related to narcotics offences.

According to a police statement, the attachment was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, a police team, the village Lambardar and Chowkidar, in accordance with legal procedures.

Police said the action was part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking by targeting assets allegedly generated through the illegal narcotics trade.

They also appealed to the public to share information related to drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
