Baramulla, Apr 9 : A woman police follower has been dismissed from service following her involvement in a narcotics case registered by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), officials said on Thursday.

Follower Shameema Bano, who was attached to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, was removed from service with effect from April 8, 2026, they said.

She was initially placed under suspension in June 2021 after her arrest by the NCB, Jammu, in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which involved seizure of contraband, officials said.

A departmental enquiry was subsequently initiated against her. After the enquiry concluded and due procedural formalities under the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules were followed, the order for her removal was issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, they added.

District Police Baramulla, in a statement, reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability within the force, warning that any involvement of police personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly. (KNS)
