J&K sees highest UAPA cases in country: NCRB report

Srinagar, Aug 31 : Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the highest number of cases across the country under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) were registered in 2021, revealed the latest report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

The report, a copy of which lies with news agency—

KNO, has stated that in 2019, 255 cases under UAPA were registered, followed by 287 cases in 2020 and 289 in 2021.

814 cases under the UAPA were registered in across India, which includes 289 in J&K followed by 157 in Manipur, 95 in Assam, 86 in Jharkhand and 83 in Uttar Pradesh besides that no a single case was registered under UAPA in 20 states and UTs including Maharashtra, Ladakh and others.

As per the data, the rioting cases in J&K are highest among all eight Union Territories, however, in whole country the higher number of rioting cases were reported Maharashtra.

It said that Maharashtra witnessed 8,709 rioting incident involving 9,635 persons and in J&K 751 rioting cases were registered involving 831 persons.

Among rioting cases, 346 were registered in land and property disputes, 136 for attacks on cops and other government servants and 107 for other acts.

Moreover J&K has reported 300 cases of offences against the state besides that 781 cases of offences against the public tranquillity were registered involving 867 persons—
