Says, not a hate crime, incident has nothing to do with prevailing situation of Kashmir,

Appealed kashmiri students to live amicably with students from other students

J&K Students Association here Sunday condemned the unwarranted and unjustified attack on a group of Kashmiri students who were ruthlessly beaten by students from other states, mostly Bihar, after a scuffle ensued between them in Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering & Technology (SVIET), Which falls in banur area of district Mohali. 

In a Statement National Vice President of Association Mehraj Ahmad said that, the students from other states ended up brawling with Kashmiri students when they had queued for food in mess. Subsequently after the brawl, group of Kashmiri students was thrashed. As per victims they were assaulted with bricks and iron rods, leaving two of them injured. He urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for stern action against the accused. Association is highly dissatisfied with the callous approach of college authorities. 

State Secretary Punjab Sheikh Azhar said that after Kashmiri students were beaten, instead of action against the culprits, the Kashmiri students were chastised and fined. These two injured students were told by college authorities to leave the college, which is highly condemnable. Where will a student a student who is far and away from his home go after being beaten? He demanded a probe and immediate arrest of all those involved in the assault on Kashmiri students. 

Secretary of Association Davood peer said that Association has taken up matter with Concerned Patiala Deputy Commissioner Sakhi Sawhney and requested her to intervene in the matter and take strict action against those who are involved in beating kashmiri students without any solid reason. Deputy commissioner directed ADC Patiala Gurpreet Thind to revoke suspension of kashmiri students and ensured adequate arrangements for safety. 

Deputy Commissioner Patiala has assured that strict action will be taken action all those found intimidating kashmiri students. However there was no any sort of hate crime in it. There was no outsider involved in this incident some people may give a communal colour to the incident, but that is not correct. This incident has nothing to do with prevailing situation of kashmir Or any other concerns of Kashmir, davood added.

The association appealed kashmiri students to live amicably with students from other students. Association took the stock of over all situation and appeal the students to rest assured of their safety and focus on their studies.
