J&K Students Association here on today expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on his decision for cancelling all university level exams in the large interest of students. In a Statement Spokesperson of Association, Nasir Khuehami said that, We welcome the decision of Punjab Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for considering student’s health as first priority and taking this decision of cancelling the exams and promoting the students on the basis of previous semester examination.
He said that, the decision is totally in favour of students & the intervention from Punjab CM has always been commendable. We were demanding to Govt regarding Cancellation of exams since months and finally that was made possible. In the tough times, this decision is a welcome and appreciable step. We also appeal students to make sure they cooperate well with the authorities and follow the advisories in letter and spirit, he added.
Khuehami said that, this will free Students from anxiety depression and rejoice parents. We are at very crucial stage of Covid-19 & nothing is bigger than health of students. He said that many students in Kashmir valley have no access to the internet & due to Continous Ban on high internet Connectivity (4G Services), Kashmiri students couldn’t attend their online exams. The unavailability of high speed internet Connectivity has hampered and halted the Process of online Classes of Students. Education sector has been the worst victim in Kashmir Valley, and with internet services snapped, the students have no source to study at home and study in a better way. It’s the right decision for Student Careers & Lives, he added further.
Additional Spokesperson of Association, Younus Rashid said that, Cancellation of exam for the ongoing session is a welcome step. The students were not able to join normal classes and their syllabus too was not completed, therefore, it was tough for the students to sit in offline exams, he said.
He said that, Covid19 pandemic has affected the normal life and put the students in depression citing one or the other reason. We hope other states will follow the same. Examination in the current circumstances is not favourable, Younus added.
