J&K Students Association Holds Orientation Program with Newly Elected Office Bearers

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday organized an orientation program to welcome and brief its newly elected office bearers. The meeting was attended by all new members, who were formally introduced during the session. The program aimed to familiarize the leadership team with the association’s core values, vision, and responsibilities as they assume charge for the upcoming term.
The orientation session was presided over by the Chairman of the Association, Mushtaq Habeeb, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, unity, and purpose-driven leadership. All CWC members, along with the National Executive Team and Advisory Board members, were also present on the occasion. Mushtaq urged the new office bearers to remain grounded in service, committed to student welfare, and responsive to the evolving challenges faced by youth from Jammu and Kashmir across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq said, “This association was built on the spirit of representation, resilience, and responsibility. As office bearers, you carry the aspirations of thousands of students. It is not just a position; it’s a responsibility to safeguard their rights, amplify their voices, and serve them selflessly.” He encouraged the team to stay connected with the grassroots and maintain coordination among state units, universities, and institutional chapters.
The orientation included detailed briefings on the functioning of the association, its outreach mechanisms, crisis response protocols, advocacy work, and coordination with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, civil society organizations, and government authorities. Discussions were also held on ongoing initiatives related to student welfare, academic support, internships, and humanitarian work.
Newly elected office bearers expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to carry forward the association’s legacy with renewed commitment and energy. They shared their visions for strengthening the student network, promoting educational equity, and addressing issues such as discrimination, career counseling, and financial assistance.
The session also featured interactive dialogues, testimonials from senior members and outgoing office bearers, and presentations highlighting the association’s achievements over the years, including its pivotal role in student evacuations, legal aid, fellowship mentorships, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
On this occasion, Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, congratulated all newly elected national and international office bearers. He expressed hope that the new team would work with zeal, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility to assist and represent Kashmiri students across India and abroad. He emphasized that the association has a proud legacy of standing up for student rights and supporting them during difficult times, and that the new office bearers must uphold and strengthen that legacy.
In his address, Khuehami stressed the importance of coordination, discipline, and unity among all coordinators and office bearers. He urged them to work collectively, remain aligned with the association’s core values, and strictly adhere to the decisions of the central working committee. “This association has consistently fought for the rights and dignity of Kashmiri students from academic concerns and scholarships to legal challenges and crisis evacuations. We expect the same resolve and spirit from the new leadership,” he added.
Danish Lone, Chairman of the Advisory Board, also took detailed stock of the challenges faced by Kashmiri students studying outside the Valley, including issues of discrimination, safety, accommodation, academic support, and legal aid. He assured the gathering that the association would intensify its efforts to ensure these concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
He encouraged the new office bearers to strengthen outreach efforts among students in their respective states and countries, organize regular support sessions, and remain readily available as first responders in times of emergency. He reiterated that teamwork, transparency, and a commitment to service must remain the guiding principles for the association going forward.
