Srinagar, August 21: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally hot and humid weather over the coming days, with intermittent spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said in its latest forecast.

For August 21 and 22, one or two spells of light rain or thundershowers are expected at scattered to many places across the Union Territory. Brief intense heavy showers are also likely at a few places in the Jammu division, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours.

From August 23 to 28, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers at scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.

The MeT has further forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places from August 29 to 31. Brief intense showers are likely during the early morning and afternoon hours, mainly in the Jammu division.

The weather department has cautioned that brief intense heavy showers over localised areas could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas.

Meanwhile, farmers have been advised that they may continue harvesting and other agricultural operations.

The forecast is broadly in line with the recent weather pattern, with several parts of J&K receiving light to moderate rainfall while hot and humid conditions are expected to persist.
