Srinagar, May 9: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir on May 9, while light rain and thundershowers are expected at several places from May 11 to May 13.

According to the forecast, weather conditions are expected to remain generally dry on May 10 till evening, with brief showers likely at a few places during evening and night hours.

The MeT department said that from May 11 to 13, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places across the Union Territory. Hailstorms, lightning, thunder and gusty winds are also expected at isolated places during this period.

The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy from May 14 to 16, while light rain and thundershowers at scattered places are likely again on May 17 and 18.

The department has issued an advisory warning of possible hailstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions from the evening/night of May 10 till May 13.

Farmers have been advised to continue and complete farm operations till May 10 in view of the expected weather deterioration thereafter.

The MeT department also predicted a fall in daytime temperatures by 3°C to 5°C at many places during May 11–13.
