JK WAVE observed that this is an encouraging move towards the democratic recognition of the unique cultural, geographical, ecological and socio-economic sensitivities of Ladakh. It further reflects the importance of constructive constitutional engagement and meaningful dialogue in addressing the legitimate socio-economic aspirations of people living in ecologically fragile and strategically important regions.
The Jammu Kashmir WAVE believes that the evolving framework of safeguards for Ladakh should also lead to the initiation of a serious, sincere and time-bound dialogue between the Central Government and the common people of Jammu & Kashmir regarding similar constitutional, legal and administrative protections for safeguarding land rights, employment opportunities, cultural identity and local resources of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, in a manner consistent with the constitutional spirit embodied in various provisions under Article 371 and the protective mechanisms that have been made available to several hill and border states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
JK WAVE further emphasized that sustainable peace, stability, development and public confidence in Jammu & Kashmir can only be strengthened through inclusive public participation, institutional safeguards, equitable governance and continued engagement with all stakeholders across regions and all communities.
During the meeting, serious concern was also expressed over several pressing socio-economic and humanitarian issues presently affecting the people of Jammu & Kashmir. JK WAVE urged the Central Government to take immediate and compassionate measures towards:
Introduction and effective implementation of a comprehensive Crop Insurance mechanism for farmers affected by climatic uncertainties and recurring agricultural losses;

Early regularisation of daily wagers, casual labourers and other temporary workers who have rendered years of public service under extremely difficult conditions;
Humanitarian review and release of innocent detainees, particularly those against whom no serious charges have been established, in order to promote reconciliation, social healing and restoration of public trust.
