Srinagar, August, 05, 2017:
Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Saturday
hosted a book release function at its Lal Mandi based Seminar Hall.
The function, which saw release of four latest books of noted Kashmiri
writer, GN Aatish, was held in collaboration with Maraz Adbi Sangam.
The book release function was presided over by Sahitya Akademi’s
Kashmiri language convener, Mohammed Zaman Azurda. Chief Information
Commissioner of J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie attended the function as
the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the CIC said that apart from hosting book
release functions, the Academy should continue its efforts to promote
and preserve regional languages and culture.
“Being a prominent cultural institution, it is imperative that the
Academy branches out and makes more and more efforts in preserving and
promoting regional languages and literature,” Ganaie said.
Giving his presidential remarks, Prof. Azurda appreciated the Academy
for its proactive role in promotion and development of regional
literature.
Earlier in his welcome address, Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini said
that litterateurs like GN Aatish deserve appreciation for their
commendable services to Kashmiri language and literature.
“As a writer-researcher, GN Aatish has done a lot of work,” Hajini
said, adding his work and contribution deserves to be appreciated.
Books of Aatish, which were released today, included Kosher Folklore,
Kashir Mehrajnama, Kashmir Angrezoon Key Safar Namu Main, and GN
Aatish-Life and contribution. The latter has been edited by Academy’s
Assistant Editor Kashmiri, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather.
As part of the function two in-depth papers were presented by Prof.
Shad Ramzan and Satish Vimal on these latest books of Aatish.
Among others, Sharief ud Din Shariq, Aijaz Ahmad Kakroo, Mohd Rafi,
Zeeshan Fazil, Saidudin Saidi, Fayaz Tilgami, Rukhsana Jabeen, Mohd.
Amin Bhat, and GR Hasrat Gada were present at the function. President
Maraz Adbi Sangam, Kaleem Bashir Dar and members of his literary
organization were also present on the occasion.
On the sidelines of the function, Maraz Adbi Sangam also felicitated
Aatish for his life-long contribution to Kashmiri literature. The
proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmad
while Kaleem Bashir Dar presented the vote of thanks on behalf of
organizers.
