Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday held a protest against the shifting of prisoners to outside jails and recent Shopian killings.
The protest was held on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelan, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
Scores of front leaders and activists took out a protest march and held a protest near Budshah Chowk in commercial hub of Lal Chowk.
The protest was headed by JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmed Bakshi and Noor Muhammad Kalwal.
The front leaders said that the people who took out a rally in Kathua in support of those accused of rape and murder is a shameful act “beyond the comprehension of a sane human being.”
The protesters lamented the role of Indian media which chose to remain silent on the Asifa issue.
They said that communal forces want to divide Jammu region on the basis of religion and that the people of Kashmir “won’t leave alone the Jammu Muslims at any cost.”
The front leaders said the shifting of prisoners from Kashmir to outside jails is a grave violation of human rights of inmates and contrary to Geneva conventions.
They also said that the Kashmir prisoners languishing at Tihar jail are not provided medicines.
