Srinagar, 30 July 2020: Jammu and Kashmir Socio-Political Activist Movement on Thursday demanded release of Kashmiri Youth languishing in various jails across India on the eve of Eid Ul Adha. The group made fervent appeal to the government to free the detainees on humanitarian grounds, terming the detentions as inhumane and unjust, based on the fact that most PSA detainees are held because of threat perception that their individual liberties can prove detrimental to peace and stability. JKSPAM said in the press statement that scores of youth are still languishing in jails, and demanded that the government should consider releasing all Kashmiri prisoner as their is huge spike in COVID19 cases across India. The group also said that rigid detention policy to send prisoners outside Kashmir is unacceptable, and is violation of rights of their families that guarantees them to meet the detainees, many families can’t afford air fare to travel to these jails across India. JKSPAM also said in their statement that Eid is a day of hope and happiness for Muslims, hundreds of Kashmiri mothers are awaiting the release of their sons, government should revisit its policies and free Kashmiri youth on the eve of Eid Ul Adha. No one has spoken for the rights of jailed Kashmiri youth, but JKSPAM is determined to goto any extend to secure the release of common youth languishing in jails across India from years without fair judicial trials. JKSPAM is strongly campaigning for the release of Kashmiri youth jailed during the abrogation of Article 370, and will leave no stone unturned to secure their freedom.
