Srinagar, March 10: Mushtaq Bala, Chairman of the Kashmir Film Society, has strongly condemned the semi-nude fashion show recently organized in Gulmarg, calling it an insult to Kashmiri culture, ethics, and religious values.
Expressing outrage over the event, which was reportedly held during the sacred month of Ramadan, Bala criticized the organizers for their insensitivity towards the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that such events go against the rich cultural heritage of the region and reflect a complete disregard for local traditions.
“This is a blatant assault on our values and cultural ethos. Kashmir has always been known for its deep-rooted traditions and respect for religious sentiments. Hosting such an event in the holy month of Ramadan is not only irresponsible but also deeply offensive,” Bala remarked.
He further urged the authorities to take strict action against those responsible for approving and organizing the event. Calling for accountability, he emphasized the need for cultural and artistic initiatives that align with the region’s heritage rather than undermine it.
The controversy surrounding the fashion show has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for greater oversight to ensure that public events respect the cultural and moral sensitivities of Kashmir.
