Srinagar, June 29: The Kashmir Film Society has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of eminent Kashmiri and Urdu writer, celebrated dramatist, and distinguished educationist Prof. Amar Malmohi, who passed away in Pune.
In a condolence message, Chairman Mushtaq Bala described Prof. Malmohi as one of the towering literary figures of Kashmir whose remarkable contributions to literature, theatre, and education enriched the cultural landscape of the region. He said Prof. Malmohi’s writings, particularly his acclaimed Kashmiri novel Trash ta Tarpan, his award-winning radio plays, and his Urdu novels, will continue to inspire generations of writers, filmmakers, dramatists, and students.
The Society noted that Prof. Malmohi’s creative legacy transcended literature and had a lasting influence on Kashmiri theatre and performing arts, making him an invaluable cultural icon. His lifelong commitment to preserving and promoting Kashmiri language and culture earned him admiration across literary and artistic circles.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, colleagues, students, and admirers, the Kashmir Film Society termed his passing an irreparable loss to the cultural and literary fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Society conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul. It also expressed hope that Prof. Amar Malmohi’s rich literary and cultural legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
