Kashmir continued to reel under intense cold conditions on Friday as temperatures across the Valley remained well below the seasonal average, even as the Meteorological Department ruled out any major weather activity in the coming days.
According to the data released by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.0 degrees Celsius, while Qazigund settled at minus 6.2 degrees and Pahalgam at minus 7.6 degrees Celsius. Kupwara recorded a low of minus 5.8 degrees, Kokernag minus 3.2 degrees, and Gulmarg minus 7.2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperatures across most stations also remained significantly below normal, reflecting the prevailing cold wave conditions in the Valley. No rainfall or snowfall was recorded across the Kashmir division during the past 24 hours.
In the Jammu division, temperatures showed mixed trends. Jammu city recorded a minimum of 5.6 degrees Celsius, while Banihal dipped to minus 0.9 degrees and Batote to 1.0 degree Celsius. Bhadarwah recorded a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Like Kashmir, most parts of Jammu division also witnessed dry weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Ladakh continued to reel under extreme cold, with Drass recording minus 24.6 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature in the region. Padum recorded a minimum of minus 20.3 degrees, Nyoma minus 21.6 degrees and Hanle minus 16.2 degrees Celsius, officials said.
The Meteorological Department has forecast mainly dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with no significant precipitation expected. However, cold wave conditions are likely to persist, especially during night and early morning hours, officials added.
