Srinagar 23 March: IftarKar is a free Ramadan assistant built by Kashmiri app developer Haider Ali Punjabi in 2019. Last Ramadan, it saw about 2 million views with over 14,000 users on its website which has prayer timings with Iftar and Suhoor counters. The Kashmiri community, especially the youngsters, has commended and appreciated the app.
The IftarKar web-based app has Darul-Rahimmiya’s issued timings, as well as of the Jafferiyah Fiqh as well as of the Ahl-e-Hadith, making it an all-encompassing app. It also features alerts based on the district-wise locations of Kashmir. The app also has of its kind Kashmiri language support for its users.
This year, the app has added global location features to give prayer timings based on geo-locations. This feature will make it easier for Muslims worldwide, especially the Kashmiri diaspora, to use the functionality of this app.
“There was a global demand for this feature from Kashmiris across the world, so after working on the app for three years, it was the right time to re-launch and update its features to include more locations,” says Haider, 23 who is a freelance web developer and currently a Masters in Computer Sciences Student based in Srinagar.
Haider has been single-handedly operating this app, with the support of his friends. He hopes that this app will encourage more people to use this app during the blessed month of Ramadan. He also encourages other young Kashmiris to be creative with their skills so that we can create an environment for innovating development.
