Jammu, May 21: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited tenders for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed four-lane Katra–Reasi–Mahore–Gulabgarh–Nandimarg–Kulgam highway corridor aimed at strengthening road connectivity between Jammu and South Kashmir.

According to official documents, the proposed corridor will connect NH-44 and pass through several hilly and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, providing a major boost to transportation infrastructure in the region.

The tender for consultancy services has been issued by NHAI’s Regional Office Jammu under reference number JKDIV/14/2025-NHAI-RO Jammu/E 290669. The project involves comprehensive DPR preparation for the planned four-laning of the strategic road corridor from Katra to Kulgam.

Officials said the initiative is expected to improve inter-regional connectivity, reduce travel time and promote tourism, trade and economic growth in the mountainous districts falling along the proposed alignment.

The proposed highway is also likely to enhance all-weather connectivity to remote areas such as Mahore, Gulabgarh and Nandimarg, which frequently face road accessibility issues due to difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.

As per the tender notice, the DPR consultancy will include feasibility studies, traffic surveys, alignment planning, engineering designs and other technical assessments required for execution of the project.

NHAI has invited bids through an open tender process, while the last date for submission of bids has been fixed as June 22, 2026.
