Srinagar, April 7 : A delegation of the Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) on Tuesday met Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, and raised several issues concerning the business community across the Valley.
The delegation included representatives from Habba Kadal Traders Federation, Rambagh Traders Federation and LPG Counter Operators Welfare Union, along with members of the trade fraternity.
KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar thanked the Divisional Commissioner for giving a patient hearing to the issues. He said one of the main demands was to make the old Habba Kadal bridge motorable to reduce traffic congestion and improve movement for traders and commuters.
The delegation said the closure of the bridge for vehicular movement has affected around 400 shopkeepers and their livelihood. The Divisional Commissioner assured that the matter would be looked into.
The traders also raised the issue of road dividers from Natipora to Rambagh, saying these are causing inconvenience and affecting business activity. The Divisional Commissioner said the issue would be examined.
The delegation also highlighted shortage of domestic LPG in Srinagar. Representatives of the LPG Counter Operators Welfare Union said supply of cylinders has remained suspended for over a month, affecting their livelihood.
They said LPG counters were operating under an OTP-based system and ensuring timely distribution, but the disruption in supply has left many operators without work. The delegation urged the administration to restore supply at the earliest.
The KTA also raised the issue of damaged Smart City projects in commercial areas and demanded repair and maintenance, stating that the condition is affecting business and posing risk to pedestrians.
The Divisional Commissioner assured that all issues raised by the delegation would be considered and addressed on priority.
Those who were part of the delegation included Maninder Singh Bhasin, Mohd Yunis, Sajad Hyder, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Ajaz Ahmad Bisati, Tariq Amin Mir, M. Yousuf Sofi, Zahoor Ahmad Bisati, Niyaz Ahmed Khan, Mohd Shaban, Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, Abdul Majid and Javid Khan.
