KUPWARA, FEB 22 : In a significant development for educational empowerment in North Kashmir, a woman educator from the frontier Kupwara district has brought laurels to the region by completing a prestigious national training programme at the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in New Delhi.
Suraya Majeed, a teacher known for her innovative pedagogical approach, attended the intensive 10-day capacity-building workshop, marking a rare feat as the sole female participant representing the district at the national platform.
Officials said the programme was designed to equip educators with culturally responsive teaching strategies and experiential learning methodologies. Ms Majeed’s selection is being viewed as a recognition of her relentless efforts to transcend geographical barriers and foster holistic education in one of the most remote educational landscapes of the Union Territory.
During the training, she actively engaged in collaborative discussions, reflective exercises, and practical demonstrations, earning appreciation for her academic sincerity and professional curiosity from peers and resource persons alike.
Local educationalists and community members described her achievement as a moment of pride for Kupwara. “She is regarded as a passionate advocate of learner-centred education. Her participation is not just a personal milestone but a conscious endeavour to bring innovative teaching practices to the classrooms of this border district,” said a senior education official.
Notably, Suraya Majeed has been particularly committed to nurturing aspirations among girls in far-flung areas, encouraging them to perceive education as a pathway to opportunity. (KNS)
