Unknown people chopped down over fifty apple tree saplings in Sogam of north Kashmir’s Kupwara on intervening Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Reports reaching said that the orchard belonging to one Mohammad Rafeeq Shiekh son of Abdul Khaliq Shiekh from Sogam was found axed this morning. Soon after, the victim lodged a police complaint, following which a team visited to make an on ground assessment of the site.

Talking to a police official concerned said that it seems a classic case of personal rivalry. “A case is being registered in this regard for further investigations”, the official added. (GNS)
