Patient was suffering from myotonia, will enquire matter: MS DH Kulgam

A 35-year-old woman from South Kashmir’s Kulgam died after she was allegedly continuously kept on high flow oxygen.

Journalist Tariq Yousuf working with a local agency, who is brother of deceased told the news agency that when his sister went to private clinic at Kulgam for routine check-up on 6th February at around 05:00 am the doctors at the clinic advised to her to go hospital for oxygen support for sometime as her oxygen level was around 80.

“My sister first visited the private clinic where a doctor told her you are fine and just your oxygen level is little bit low and visit hospital,” he said.

However, she has continuously been kept on high flow oxygen for hours together due to which her lungs got damaged and subsequently died, he said.

He further added that her sister repeatedly requested doctors not to keep her on high flow oxygen as she is facing some issues with it despite that she was continuously kept on high flow oxygen and till her death she was kept on oxygen support.

He requested authorities that matter must be investigated at an earliest and strict action must be taken against the staff members involved in the alleged medical negligence.
