The Lakes and Waterways Development Authority has started removal of weeds through manual means. The area to be manually deweeded along the periphery of Lake has been divided into 32 sections for which e-NITs were floated and contracts awarded. The manual deweeding is a traditional way to remove the weeds and every year around 1500 labourers are engaged for the purpose of removal of weeds.

The mechanical deweeding is already in place since March, 2020.

The Authority has a target of removing about 10 lac sqmtrs of weed manually and about 25 lac sqmts of weed mechanically this year. The weeds mainly sprout in late spring and during summers it covers a large area of lake. The deweeding is continuosly being done to maintain the lake aesthetics.

Meanwhile Enforcement Wing intervening night of 22/23-05-2020, a team led by Enforcement Officer  LDA and SDPO Nehru Park on the specific information regarding illegally excavating earth filling/boulders from the Maloori Nallah visited the spot and found that Two tippers bearing Reg. No:- JK01AG-0754 & JK01AF-3417  were illegally  loading Boulders from the said Nallah which is clear violation of High Court Orders. The drivers of the trippers fled from the spot leaving loaded illegally excavated earth filled tippers onspot. However after seizure of the documents the concern Police station was intimated for safe custody of the tippers for legal proceedings in this regard.

All the Tripper/Load carried owners are directed not carry / ferry any construction material in the prohibited area of Dal/ Nigeen Lake without getting permission and in case anybody found shall be dealt as per law.
