Prompted by public complaints that home delivery boys of cooking gas are supplying under-weight refill cooking gas cylinders to consumers, the field executives of Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Joint Controller conducted surprise inspection of different markets of city Srinagar.
During the inspection, home-delivery vans of cooking gas were intercepted and the weighing of the cooking gas cylinders was conducted on the standard digital scale in presence of the public present there, which was found within permissible limits.
The net weight of cooking gas in the cylinder is 14.2 kg and tare-weight of cylinder varies from 15 to 18 kg. The rate of refill cylinder in district Srinagar is Rs. 710/- inclusive of subsidy. A delivery boy was penalized for not conducting weight-check of refill cylinders before supplying it to the customer.
According to rules a delivery-boy of cooking gas cylinder is supposed to conduct weight check, leak-check of the cylinder before supplying it to consumer. Moreover, he should issue cash-voucher to the consumer carrying price of the gas.
