Jammu, Nov 16 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully busted a major terror network operating across several states, averting possible attacks nationwide.

Speaking at an event in Jammu, the LG Sinha as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said the module was linked to the Red Fort blast case and was neutralised following accurate inputs and coordinated action by J&K Police.

Referring to the tragic explosion inside Nowgam Police Station, Sinha said “the blast occurred accidentally during the forensic handling of explosive material seized from the arrested suspects. A police team was collecting samples of the recovered explosives when the explosion took place, leading to the death of nine persons, including six policemen, and injuries to several others.”

He reiterated that “the incident had no terror angle, adding that the blast happened during routine technical examination.”

The LG said “a thorough probe has been initiated and the administration is extending all necessary support to the injured and the families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.”

He lauded J&K Police for dismantling the module and preventing further attacks.
