Srinagar, April 24: The Meteorological Centre has forecast a spell of generally cloudy weather with intermittent rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the next several days, accompanied by gusty winds at some places.

According to the forecast, weather conditions on April 24 and 25 will remain partly to generally cloudy, with one or two spells of light rain or thundershowers expected at scattered to many places, particularly during afternoon and evening hours. Gusty winds are also likely at a few locations during this period. 

On April 26 and 27, the weather is expected to remain largely dry, although a brief spell of light rain may occur at isolated places during the afternoon.

The MeT department has further predicted generally cloudy conditions on April 28, with light rain or thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered places. Between April 29 and 30, and again from May 1 to 2, the region is likely to witness cloudy skies with brief spells of light rain at a few places, mainly during late afternoon hours.

The MeT Centre has advised farmers to suspend agricultural operations on April 24 and 25 in view of expected rain and gusty winds.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather conditions are likely to persist in parts of the Jammu division including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur district for the next four days. Heatwave conditions are also expected at isolated places on April 24.

Residents in these areas have been advised to avoid heat exposure during peak hours and stay hydrated by consuming sufficient fluids such as water, ORS, and traditional drinks like lassi.
