Light Rain, Thunderstorms & Gusty Winds Likely at Scattered to Many Places in J&K Today

Srinagar, May 16: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather with light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered to many places across Jammu and Kashmir on May 16.

According to the forecast, weather conditions are expected to remain generally dry on May 17 and 18. However, from May 19 to 20, the Union Territory is likely to witness generally cloudy weather with spells of light rain and thundershowers at scattered places.

The MET Centre said May 21 is expected to remain generally cloudy with brief spells of rain at isolated places, while dry weather is likely to prevail on May 22 and 23.

From May 24 to 25, generally cloudy conditions with light rain and thundershowers at isolated to scattered places are expected.In its advisory, the weather department warned of the possibility of thunder, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions during May 16 and again on May 19-20.

The MET Centre has also advised people to suspend boating and shikara riding, particularly during afternoon and late afternoon hours, in view of possible gusty winds and thunderstorms.
