Srinagar, July 8: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, with heavy rain, brief intense showers and thunderstorms likely at a few locations in the Jammu division.
According to the weather department, scattered places across the Jammu and Kashmir are expected to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers on July 9 and 10, while brief intense heavy showers may occur at a few locations.
The department said July 11 and 12 are likely to witness one or two spells of rain and thundershowers at many places, with isolated areas of the Jammu division expected to receive heavy rainfall and brief intense downpours.
From July 13 to 15, weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places and isolated intense showers over parts of the Jammu division.
In its advisory, the MET Centre warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers on July 8 and again on July 11–12, particularly during the afternoon and early morning hours.
The department also cautioned that flash floods, landslides and mudslides may occur at vulnerable locations in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Range. Residents, tourists and commuters have been advised to stay away from nallas, streams and mudslide-prone areas during periods of heavy rainfall.
