BJP Committed To Statehood Restoration At Appropriate Time
Srinagar, Sep 16 : Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma on Wednesday accused the National Conference-led government of using the Statehood issue as a pretext to evade responsibility for governance failures.
Addressing media persons, Sharma said the Omar Abdullah-led government was trying to divert public attention from its poor performance.
“It is an eyewash. People are demanding electricity, but no serious review meetings are being held. There is shortage of clean drinking water and rampant corruption. The government has failed to address basic issues affecting the people,” Sharma said.
He alleged that governance under the present dispensation has been marked by “zero performance and zero governance”.
Sharma said instead of addressing public grievances, the NC has come up with the Statehood protest programme at Jantar Mantar to divert attention from its failures.
He said BJP remains committed to restoring statehood and maintained that the decision will be taken keeping in view the prevailing security situation.
