A person was injured in shelling in Kirni sector of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday.

A police officer said that the civilian namely Mohammad Saffir, the 19-year-old son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Dhokri received splinter injuries in the afternoon.

He added that the incident occurred when Pakistani troops attacked Indian posts in the area.

Meanwhile, a defense spokesman in a statement said that Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and mortar shelling along Line of Control in Qasba and Kirni sectors, Poonch. Indian Army retaliating befittingly, he added. (GNS)
