Massive Fire Breaks out in Srinagar’s Fateh Kadal, Several Houses Damaged

Srinagar, Oct 20: A massive fire broke out late Monday night at Narparistan in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar, damaging several residential houses, officials from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department said.

As per officials, the department received the distress call at 10:59 PM, following which fire tenders from Babdem Fire Station and Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters Command Srinagar were immediately dispatched at 11:00 PM.

Eyewitnesses reported that the blaze spread rapidly through the congested locality, involving five to six residential structures.

To contain the fire, additional reinforcements were rushed from MR Gunj, Habakadal, Safakadal, and Rainawari Fire Stations.

The firefighting operation is being closely supervised by the Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services Command Srinagar Dr Mir Aqib Hussain along with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah and DFO Headquarters.

Firefighting teams are making strenuous efforts to bring the situation under control. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be ascertained.
